Save KEMP’s second fundraiser a quiet success
Supporters dropping in to SaveKEMP’s second fundraiser found a friendly, neighbourly atmosphere – together with up-to-date information about Thames Water’s proposals for Phase 2 of the “Super Sewer” consultation.
Thanks to Wapping Vineyard
The event was again hosted by a long-standing friend of the campaign, Wapping Vineyard in Garnet Street, Wapping.
Prior commitments to attend the Charity Ball hosted by Tower Hamlets’ Ceremonial Mayor meant that none of our political allies were present but we received several messages of support and one promise to contribute the price of a ticket to our fighting fund. (Thank you, Councillor Peck.)
Familiar faces and local residents
The SaveKEMP team was delighted to welcome both familiar faces and local residents who had been following the campaign on Facebook and Twitter.
As usual, prizes for the raffle were donated by a number of local luminaries and businesses and our thanks go to Ray Newton, History of Wapping Trust; Roger Mills, local historian and author; Sue at The Laundry Box, New Crane Wharf; June at Waitrose, St. Katharine Docks; 44 Frocks; Cafe Spice Namaste; and Claire Manwani.
Essential funds raised
Funds raised from the event will be used towards campaign essentials including room hire for public meetings, printing costs and campaign signs / banners.
Thanks to everyone who helped to make the evening a great example of community spirit.
